It’s always nice to have some fun trivia up your sleeve for dinner parties, so how about a few little known trivia points regarding maybe one of our favorite times of year (especially for those of us who love and live at the beach!)
1. The “dog days of summer” refers to the weeks between July 3 and August 11 which are named after the Dog Star (Sirius) in the Canis Major constellation. The ancient Greeks blamed Sirius for the hot temperatures, drought and discomfort that occurred during the summer.
2. In the summer heat, the iron in France’s Eiffel Tower expands, making the tower grow more than 6 inches!
3. Popsicles, a popular summer treat, were invented by accident! An 11 year old boy accidentally left a glass of soda outside all night long. By morning the soda had frozen. He began selling them at an amusement park in New Jersey!
